Using Goodwin Heart Pine Lumber - Antique River-Recovered Heart Pine Flooring

A homeowner describes using River Recovered antique heart pine wood from Goodwin Heart Pine (
http://www.heartpine.com) to build kitchen cabinets and for wood flooring.

Flooring: Antique Heart Pine (Antique Select Heart Pine - http://www.heartpine.com/products/heartpine_select.shtml) and Antique Wild Black Cherry - http://www.heartpine.com/products/wild_cherry.shtml (not shown in video)
Cabinetry: Original River-Recoverd Heart Cypress (Antique Select Heart Cypress - http://www.heartpine.com/products/cypress_select.shtml)

Francine Chidgey - Homeowner:
"Several years ago when we started researching how we wanted the house built, he became interested in woodworking and started little projects and the little projects turned into him doing all the cabinetry in this house himself. He's an orthopedic surgeon. He's a hand specialist, so he's very meticulous.

The floor was very pristine when it was put in and now as we live with it, it's ripening with age. and we've only been here four months and the color's becoming richer and it's just becoming softer and warmer.

The only maintenance that I do is I vacuum. And that is what I occasionally do is just damp mop the floor and let it dry naturally. It just gives the whole room a soft elegant feel."

More about the old wood flooring:
Antique Select Heart Pine (http://www.heartpine.com/products/heartpine_select.shtml) - Antique River-Recovered® Select Heart Pine features a cathedral arching grain with a border of vertical pinstripe grain. Wider widths are available.

Highly popular, this is the beautiful, durable wood that built America. Consider that the heart pine in Washington's Mount Vernon home and Jefferson's Monticello home is more than 250 years old, yet is in top condition and walked on every day.

Goodwin antique heart pine is guaranteed to be at least 200 to 500 years old, which means it is 100% heart wood and has the highest level of hardness and durability.

Antique Select Heart Cypress (http://www.heartpine.com/products/cypress_select.shtml") - Antique River-Recovered® Select Heart Cypress features a blend of vertical grain with a charming feathery pattern. Best of all, Goodwin provides you 100% heartwood. Because the tree was at least 500 years old when cut down in the nineteenth century, wider widths are available.

Antique Wild Black Cherry (http://www.heartpine.com/products/wild_cherry.shtml) - This is a wild southern variety, not as dark as Brazilian Cherry, and is a gorgeous complement to heart pine. Its rich color spectrum ranges from lustrous pinks to rich red brown.
