This is how we built our new organic raised garden bed.

We used wood called ipil (Intsia bijuga), for the ipil-ipil tree, or commonly called merbau here in Australia. We like to use this natively grown merbau as it does not contain CCA (chromated copper arsenate) or ACA (ammoniacal copper arsenate), and is a very durable and termite resistant.

Some people would say that the alternative from ACA and CCa pressure-treated lumber is called ACQ. This newer fornulated treated lumber is preserved with alkaline copper quaternary. ACQ pressure-treated lumber contains more copper than the old CCA or ACA, but at least it's free of arsenic.

You can look at all the studies you want ontrated lumber and garden beds. We keep it simple, just don't use them. We like to keep the heavy metals out of the garden, so that's why we use Australian merbau wood.
