Mitsubishi AHX640 Series face mills is yet another break through milling solution for high efficiency machining of Cast and Ductile Irons. AHX640 series cutters feature double side Heptagonal inserts (14 corners per insert) capable of depth of cuts of .236". The innovative design of the AHX640 strikes a unique balance between work piece materials, depths of cut capability and inserts economy without sacrificing performance in Cast and Ductile Iron.
AHX640 cutters debut a new insert wedge clamping system that maximizes the number of teeth permissible in each diameter range and Mitsubishi's wedge based Anti-Fly Insert (A.F.I.) mechanism for that extra measure of insert security. The AHX640 is available in Extra and Super Fine Pitches for high efficiency metal removal rates under various machining conditions.
Three different high tolerance M-Class chip breakers inserts are available to suit various applications needs. The MK breaker with double positive cutting edge geometry offers low resistance and is suitable for applications on less rigid and older machines. The HK breaker offers highest cutting edge strength and is recommend for unstable and high feed machining. In application with special surface finish requirements, the use of a 2-corner WK wiper insert with standard MK or HK inserts maybe your solution.
Cast Iron grade MC5020 is now standard for AHX640 inserts. Grade MC5020 has excellent wear, chipping and thermal crack resistance and engineered to prevent the problems usually associated with machining of cast irons over prolonged periods. MC5020 black super-smooth Aluminum Oxide coating -similar to turning grade UC5115- is the grades most visible feature. This super-smooth black Aluminum Oxide coating enables smooth chip flow, prevents welding and provides an excellent heat shield to the TiCN layer and substrate.
